BOSTON/Mattapan - A woman of color is suing the City of Boston’s Parks and Recreation Department for allegedly paying her less than her white co-workers.

Claudette Bailey, who lives in Mattapan, worked as an executive assistant for the department for around 24 years until her retirement.

The suit filed at the US District Court in Boston on September 16, alleges that Bailey was paid at a lesser grade than she should have been, despite appeals to management for a raise, resulting in lower pay and a reduced pension.

BOSTON/South Boston - The former El Salvadoran Vice-Minister of Public Safety was found guilty of immigration fraud at the US District in Boston last week.

Orlando Inocente Montano who immigrated to the US sometime after 1994 was indicted by the US Department of Justice for lying about his military background when he applied for a protected status in 2002.

Springfield, Mass. - Attorneys for the American Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts have helped launch a class action suit against the Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Two named plaintiffs Clayton Richard Gordon and Preciosa Antunes filed a lawsuit at the US District Court in Springfield, following their detention by ICE agents earlier this year. Both are being held under a mandatory detention rule based on an interpretation of a Board of Immigration Appeals ruling.

Framingham, Mass. – Former Lifeline Systems salesperson Denise Rock is suing the company claiming that she was unfairly terminated for raising concerns over allegedly fatal product faults.

She claims the Philips subsidiary began discriminating against her when she reported to company attorneys that a medical alert device manufactured by another subsidiary, Health Watch, was likely the source of a fire that killed a number of users.
