Across Massachusetts jobs are being cut and thousands of workers laid off.
Profitable companies like Verizon are using the current recession as an excuse to cut jobs. Universities and hospitals with fat endowments are making cuts. Long overdue construction on state infrastructure is stalled or moving too slowly. State and local government are slashing critical public services and eliminating jobs -- just when we should be expanding them.
Those of us still working are just one paycheck away from a pink slip.
One year after the federal government gave big business and the banks hundreds of billions of dollars for the bail out, corporations aren't creating the jobs that were promised.
We need jobs and we want to work. Let's put the heat on corporations doing business in Massachusetts to provide the good jobs our communities need!
