I attended an interesting presentation by Persephone Miel at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard Law School last week, and my comments got Open Media Boston a mention on Ethan Zuckerman's blog (both he and Miel are Berkman fellows).
Check it out here.
There's always a bit a cognitive dissonance between participants at these things - which I think is reflected in the post - but attendees generally agreed that there are big troubles for journalism going on (demonstrating once again that people tend to want to come to some agreement rather than remain in a state of disagreement in these situations - which could be a problem as, for example, I no doubt have profound disagreements with many in such rooms that shouldn't be submerged before being debated out). And that neither traditional journalists nor bloggers have found any magic bullets to save the news industry yet.
I supposed I should post a reply to Zuckerman's blog entry on some points of interest. Others should feel free to do so as well. And check out Miel's findings, too. Good work, I thought.
