As the right-wing gets pushed back further and further into a political obscurity of their own making by the rise of a massive grassroots movement for social justice, the rhetoric from their small and inoffensive army of sweaty-palmed sociopaths in basements around Winchester grows increasingly shrill. For example just yesterday evening, legions of movement supporters following the #OccupyBoston hashtag on Twitter were treated to a real screamer: #OccupyBoston "stopped" a planned food truck festival from happening in Dewey Square, and the festival was going to donate $1,000 to the Greater Boston Food Bank, so therefore #OccupyBoston STOLE $1,000 FROM "THE POOR."
In recent days, Americans have also thrilled to tales of "European anarchists" and George Soros and even aliens being puppet masters behind the popular uprising for democracy sparked by the #Occupy movement over the last month. And locally, screeds have flown far and wide claiming that veterans "deserved" to get beat up by the Boston police during the destruction of #OccupyBoston's second camp early on Tuesday morning.
Failing much success with these memes, we can only wonder what the right-wing trolls will think up next.
Well here at Open Media Boston, we say "why wait for corporate funded right-wing think tanks to hand down their next flailing swing at a propaganda trope that will stick?"
Why not write their script for them?
So we're pleased to hold our first ever OMB contest!
That's right, you too can: Write the next STUPID F$&KING RIGHT-WING MEME about #OccupyBoston!
Will the winning entries reference "The $500 Million That #OccupyBoston is Costing Area Taxpayers Every Single Day?" Or "A Secret Tunnel from Dewey Square to Beijing?" Or "Baby Raping Flag Burners?"
Who can say?
Our panel of experts will review all submissions we get over the next 3 days, and publish the top 3 results.
And we'll be sure to forward the winning entries directly to Fox 25 "News" to cut out the middle people and get the best suggestions to our top local right-wing fear mongers - so they can start putting them out to their 12 fanbois in Metheun and Stoughton right away.
Winners will receive fabulous prizes that we'll get from somebody or other at some point.
To enter, send one idea per person in an email to info [at] openmediaboston [dot] org. Subject line: CONTEST ENTRY!
Play today! It's fun for the whole family.
