BOSTON/Fenway - Four weeks ago, a popular Boston teacher - Obain Attouoman - was deported from the United States to his native country of Ivory Coast. Known to his students at Fenway High School as "Mr. Obain," the math teacher had been living and working in the U.S. legally since 1992. But a missed asylum hearing in 2004 led to an order of deportation that was delayed once by Congressional action but finally acted upon last month. On Wednesday, Dave Goodman of the Boston Community Reporter's Project and Open Media Boston attended a rally on behalf of the teacher and filed this report.
