The Manhattan Transfer, a New York City-based vocal group, has been around since 1972. The group currently consists of members Tim Hauser, Alan Paul, Janis Siegel and Cheryl Bentyne. Along with the dozens of CDs under their belt, the quartet has also won several Grammys for Best Jazz Fusion Performance, Best Arrangement for Voices, Best Contemporary Jazz Performance and made music history in 1981 by being the first group to with awards in both the pop and jazz categories. Their 1985 release of Vocalese was the second most nominated album ever under Michael Jackson’s Thriller. The group is about to celebrate their 40th anniversary and release of their new album, The Chick Corea Songbook.
